In my senior year of Brown University, I took the course History of Graphic Design taught by Doug Scott at Rhode Island School of Design (RISD).
For the final project of History of Graphic Design, we were assigned to create an accordion fold booklet that introduced the lives and careers of two notable designers. Additionally, we were asked to include other important landmarks in world and art/design history to help understand the world they worked in. Our first designer was preassigned by Doug and the second designer was chosen by the student. I was given Valentina Kulagina and chose Jonathan Barnbrook as my second designer to research his career.
The final booklet features 25 pages covering world history and graphic design from the early 20th century to the present day. When laid out, the book spreads to over 22 feet long. The book features a color coded system: orange colored text covers Valentina Kulagina's life, pink colored text covers Jonathan Barnbrook's life, and grey colored text covers world, art, and graphic design history. The booklet designed using Adobe Indesign. Printed the booklet using PrimeLink Printer on coated paper and assembled using sensitive skin paper tape from CVS.
